APPLICATIONS

Apps for Feature and or 'special' characters should be emailed to [email protected] with the following outline. This is just a suggested outline, and players are encouraged to write any type of free-form application that they want to.

This application template can also be used for non-FC characters with backgrounds that require approval such as, relatives of Features, very powerful characters, force wielders etc...

Remember, the goal of an application is to show us an in depth understanding of what makes a character tick and how well you can write. The spelling should be checked as well as the grammar. It should grab the readers attention as RPA sifts through numerous applications every day. Word to the wise, only the most well written applications will make it. A long application that is well thought out, well researched and well written is far better than a single paragraph that doesn't tell us anything that we don't already know.

IMPORTANT: Subject Line - Include the character being applied for and your character name.

 Email
Subject: Joe Blow - Han Solo Application.
If there are 15 applications entitled Han App, and one entitled Joe Blow's Han app. Which one do you think will get read first? Put your app at the top of the pile by telling us who you are.

Character History - Where the character came from, why they exist. Who and What they are. Things they have done in the past that makes them 'who' they are. Tell us -why- the Mush needs this character, and why the Mush would benefit from the character. Tell us something we don't know about the character if at all possible. Don't just list facts we can read from the books, or see in the movies. Give us your personal opinion on what the character is all about. Surprise us!

Strengths - What makes this character special or unique. What are the characters strong points?

Weaknesses - Everyone has weaknesses, they are the key to playing any intricate character. If you know the character's weaknesses and fears, you -know- the character inside and out. Tell us what they are.

Play Value - What the character brings to the Mush. How other characters would likely respond to the character during IC play. How can this character spark something in others. What will the character be doing on the Mush? What sorts of plots will they be involved in? How will they add value by generating roleplay, and what types of roleplay can be expected from you if you are given the character? If the character being applied for has an above average power or skill, how do you plan on handling it? Note: Please don't include a chart with the characters skill/die points.

Your Background - Whatever you want to put here. You can include how long you have Mushed, where and what roles you have played. Plots you have taken part in, especially ones that you have coordinated or generated for others. Especially tell us your personal philosophy on what a Feature Characters role is. Also include your characters name on Star Wars MUSH, but this should also be in the Subj line of the email. Tell us how you approach roleplay, handle IC conflict, create drama etc...
